That would just be plain stupid on their part. All of their app store sales would be gone, because with jailbreak you can get free apps. If anything they will come out with a better level of customization, which is very likely with the upcoming iOS5. Also, I doubt they will bring 3D to an iPad. I believe that iPad 3, when it comes out, likely 2012, will have the same display as the current iPhone 4. Seems to be the way Apple goes with gadgets.
Samsung's Galaxy phone here in Japan, sports a 3D screen and it is AWESOME! I wouldn't be surprised if Apple go somewhere along the same lines for their next set of displays, perhaps taking a leaf out of the Nintendo 3DS book.
And just for the record and off topic: Facetime was first invented by DoCoMo, not Apple! FOMA D902i phone, 2005 :P
